The pitch
The surface occupied by the camping equipment, including the allowed additional small tent (max. 6 m²), projected on the ground, may not exceed 40 m². Party-tents are not allowed on the campsite. On the day of arrival the pitch can be occupied after 2 p.m. On the day of departure the pitch should be vacated before noon.
Pets
You are not able to leave your dog or cat somewhere else?
On the campsites Kompas Camping it is allowed (except in rented accommodations and hiker's cabins) to bring along two pets per pitch if other campers are not disturbed by them. Your cat or dog should be leashed at all times!
Pitches with extra comfort
You do not like to walk to the sanitary facilities with your washing?
On the campsites Kompas Camping you can choose for some extra luxury: a pitch with an individual water connection and waste water drainage. For this service we charge a little bit more.
The XL-pitch, with a surface of 150 m², offers you additional spacious comfort. Please note that you can only book an XL-pitch in combination with electricity and water connection.
Indicate your preference when you book!
Please note that due to a limited number of pitches equipped with individual water connections, this service cannot always be guaranteed. Confirmation through invoice. Not being able to offer this service is not a reason for cancelling the reservation.
Additional small tent for free
Each pitch has a surface of approximately 110 m². Enough space for your caravan, tent or camper. But also a small tent of max. 8 m², or two small tents of max. 5 m², can be installed. And this is free of charge!
Electricity
At Kompas Camping an electricity connection with EEC-plug is used and with an amperage of 10 A.
Cancellation
For full or partial cancellation of the stay the following costs are charged:
up to 57 days before the start of the stay: 25 € per file.
from 56 up to 43 days before the start of the stay: 25% of the total rent with a minimum of 25 €
from 42 up to 22 days before the start of the stay: 50% of the total rent with a minimum of 25 €
from 21 to 8 days before the start of the stay: 75% of the total rent with a minimum of 25 €
When cancelling within 7 days or less before the start of the stay, including not showing up: the full rent.
Please note that cancellations are only accepted in writing and the date of the letter's postmark is valid as cancellation date.
Advantageous cancellation insurance
It is recommended to conclude a cancellation insurance. If you wish, this can be arranged through Kompas Camping vzw with DVV-Insurances. Premium rate: just 4% of the total booking cost!
Terms and Conditions of stay
These terms and conditions of stay have been drawn up for your benefit, ensuring that your stay will be pleasurable at our vacation areas; each person should therefore observe them.
The non-respect of the regulations results in the immediate expulsion from the domain without any entitlement to compensation or reimbursement.
The vacation area is under direct responsibility of the management.
This responsibility implies that the management can take appropriate measures in addition to these rules and conditions.
All breaches on lodging laws are punishable. Management should immediately be notified in case of damages to any installations of the vacation area or if an accident occurs.
1. Residence
1.1 The pitch
You may stay on the campsite with your tent, camper, caravan. The surface used by the camping equipment, including any small tents, may not exceed 40 m².
Concerning small tents you have the choice of 2 small tents of max. 5m² or one small tent of max. 8m². Per pitch 1 windscreen is allowed with a maximum length of 9m. Party-tents are not allowed on the campsite.
1.2 Duration of stay
The management takes into account the wishes and preferences of the campers and allocates pitches and the duration of stay. The number of the pitch mentioned on the order form/invoice is solely an indicator and can be changed by the management without prior notice. Due to lodging laws, and for your own security (e.g. notification of claim) management needs to know who is present at the campsite at all times; bringing in, or removing camping equipment should always be notified to the reception.
When booking, you commit yourself to move your equipment by simple request of the management. Besides, permission is given to the management to move the equipment with prior notice and without entitlement to compensation. Campers are not allowed to rent their camping equipment to third parties.
1.3 Stay rate
The camping rate includes 4 persons, one pitch for one camping equipment with possible small tents, one car, environmental tax, tourist tax and the use of the shouwers. As from the 5th person, you pay the extra person rate, except if it concerns dependant children. A maximum of 6 persons is allowed per pitch, except if your own family is composed of more than 6 persons. Persons who are not living at the same address, must be notified to the reception. You pay extra for electricity, an individual water connection, an XL-pitch and for pets (maximum two per pitch). Various charges (a.o. tourist tax) are invoiced separately.
1.4 Booking and payment
A booking will always be confirmed in writing by the management of the vacation area. A camper/holiday-guest can only claim a definite booking after the camping management has received the booking confirmation and the timely payment of the deposit. The vacation area can, by choice, perceive the booking as definitive after having received the booking confirmation or the deposit. The deposit amounts to 150 euros or with smaller cases (= up to 200 euros) the full amount. Payment of the balance should be done 8 weeks before the start of the stay. If any change is requested by the camper/guest (e.g.: change of pitch), after booking confirmation, an administrative fee of 25 euros will be charged.
1.5 Cancellation
For full or partial cancellation, only in writing (date postmark = cancellation date), the following costs are charged:
- up to 57 days before the start of the stay: 25 € per file.
- From 56 to 43 days before the start of the stay: 25% of the total rent with a minimum of 25 €.
- From 42 to 22 days before the start of the stay: 50% of the total rent with a minimum of 25 €.
- From 21 to 8 days before the start of the stay: 75% of the total rent with a minimum of 25 €.
- When cancelling within 7 days or less before the start of the stay, including not showing up: the full rent.
- When not showing up, without notice, the allocated pitch/rented accommodation will be kept reserved for 1 night, after which it will be rented to others.
1.6 Cancellation Insurance
Avoid the risk to lose your full or partial vacation-invoice if something were to happen to you or your family. Kompas Camping vzw offers its customers, in cooperation with DVV-Insurances, the opportunity to conclude a cancellation insurance together with the reservation. The premium amounts to 4% of the total booking cost.
1.7 Arrival and departure
Arrival: campers can occupy their pitch at the day of arrival between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Campers should announce their arrival and complete formalities at the reception at the latest one day after their arrival.
Departure: on the day of departure, the pitch should be vacated before noon. In case of an early departure, you should notify the reception, at the latest one day before departure. See point 6 for separate rules for rented accommodations and vacation-homes.
1.8 Youth
Children are our guests. Be child friendly: think of their safety, especially while driving a vehicle. As a parent, you're responsible for any damage caused by your children. Teach them not to play in the buildings and to respect nature and the green areas. Prevent accidents.
Minors (<18 years old), unaccompanied by a person of at least 18 years old, are not allowed to stay on the site.
Youth groups should book in advance (see point 1.4) and are subject to the aforementioned conditions.
1.9 Vehicles and boats
Per pitch/rented accommodation only 1 vehicle is allowed. This vehicle can only be parked on your own pitch: it is prohibited to park on the roads of the campsite. Vehicles of visitors should be parked outside the campsite: use the free parking lots at the entrance to this end. A boat is considered a vehicle. Consequently, either the boat or the vehicle must be parked outside the campsite. Boats longer than 5 m (including trailer) are not allowed on the campsite.
1.10 Animals
Per pitch a maximum of 2 pets is allowed which will always be charged. Dogs and cats need to be leashed at all times (max. 2m). Walking dogs has to be done outside the campsite. Please bring some small bags to clean up any excrement. Pets are not allowed in some buildings of the campsite (for example the sanitary facilities). At all times the owner of the animal is responsible and needs to make sure no other campers are disturbed by the presence or actions of the pet. For animals other than cats and dogs, permission from the management is required.
2. Services
2.1 Reception
If you have any questions or problems concerning your stay, please contact the personnel of the reception. Opening hours of the reception are posted at the entrance. First aid station is available.
2.2 Connection to the power grid
The connection to the power grid of the campsite is realized through a Euro-plug (amperage: 10A). In order to prevent overloads, no electric devices of more then 1200 W are allowed.
2.3 Swimming-pools
In Nieuwpoort, the access to the swimming-pool is restricted to campers/vacation-guests (free) and visitors (paying) which are in possession of a receipt. Measures have been taken to ensure that you can enjoy pleasant and clean swimming-pools: These measures are posted near the pool. Please comply to these rules for your own health and safety and those of others.
3. Safety and security
3.1 Fire Safety
For fire safety reasons the camper is obliged to install the camping equipment as indicated in the welcome brochure. Fire-fighting equipment is available at different locations of the campsite (see a.o. the map at the entrance). A maximum of 3 gas cannisters is allowed per pitch. Make sure they comply with the applicable rules and regulations and check them regularly for wear and/or leaks. Heating and kitchen equipment needs to be placed in a secure manner in a well aired room on a fire resistant plate. No open fires or camp-fires are allowed unless explicit permission by the management. Any barbecuing needs to be monitored constantly. The necessary precautions to prevent fire must be taken. The barbecue needs to be installed in such a way that it does not cause any inconvenience (smoke) to other guests. Make sure the ashes are cooled before depositing them into a container.
3.2 Traffic safety
For the safety of our guests, especially children, there is a speed limit of 5 km/h (3 m/h) for all vehicles, including bicycles on the campsite. Therefore it is forbidden to play with any balls nearby camping equipment. Driving a motorcycle or moped is not allowed on the campsite, unless to move them from and to the pitch.
3.3 Personal safety
Inside the camping equipment, no activities and no goods are allowed which could increase the risk of fire or the consequences of it. Everybody should take the necessary precautions to protect their own gear. Always lock your camping-equipment and never leave any money behind.
4. Neatness - hygiene - garbage - peace and quiet
4.1 Neatness and gardening
Kompas Camping counts on your cooperation to keep every pitch, the environment and community buildings as neat as possible
Respect the grass and greens on the campsite. On the campsite it is prohibited to:
- place a mat or wooden floor larger than the (front)tent;
- place fences of any kind;
- harness any wires (for example for your wash);
- place garden ornaments, flowerpots or flowers;
- dig or spade the ground.
4.2 Sanitary facilities
The sanitary buildings on the vacation area are regularly cleaned by our staff. Kompas Camping is also constantly investing in modernization, more energy efficient and environmental friendly techniques. As a guest you can help by:
- Reporting leaking toilets and taps at the reception.
- Being economical with water and energy.
- Keeping the sanitary facilities neat and report vandalism.
4.3. Garbage
Ordinary household garbage should be placed into well closed, decent bags, which should be deposited into the containers. Be environmentally aware: paper, cardboard, glass, vegetable, fruit and garden-rubbish have to be separated and deposited into their respective containers. Drain water and chemical toilets should be emptied in the appointed areas (depositing corners of the sanitary facilities).
4.4 Peace and quiet
Everybody is required to keep complete silence between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Unless otherwise stated, the use of motorized vehicles during these hours is not allowed. Noise that could disturb other campers, like televisions and radios, should be avoided.
5. Buying and selling
Buying and selling of foods and drinks is only allowed in the dedicated areas. For selling or distributing documents and/or objects the explicit consent of the management is required.
6. Rented accommodations / vacation homes
The aforementioned terms and conditions of stay also apply to our rented accommodations and vacation homes, including the following rules and deviations:
- Arrival between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
- Departure between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Please inform the reception if you wish to leave earlier. If you have not vacated the rented accommodation by 10 a.m., a fine of 75 euros will be charged.
- A maximum of 6 persons is allowed in the caravans; a maximum of 5 persons for the bungalow tents and a maximum of 4 persons for the lodges, tipi-tents and hiker's cabins is allowed. Depending on the type of vacation home 4, 6 or 8 persons are allowed.
- Small tents are not allowed at the rented accommodations and vacation homes.
- Usage of bed linen is required, it can also be rented on site.
- The tenant or his possible guests are not allowed to bring any pets.
- Any damages should be notified to the management and are charged to the tenant.
The accommodation/vacation home should be neat after vacating them.
- The costs for losing a key (75 euros), replacement of damaged parts of the furniture or repair of damage to the rented accommodation will be charged to the tenant.
7. Liability
Kompas Camping can never be considered as an observer of the campers'/guests' goods. Kompas Camping is not liable for theft or damages of the campers'/guests' goods. Except the cases mentioned in the two previous paragraphs, Kompas Camping is only liable for serious culpability or fraud.
8. Violation of the terms and conditions
Any violation of the terms and conditions entitles Kompas Camping to claim a compensation. The damages that arise from any violation of the rules by the camper/vacation-guest is estimated by the parties at a minimum of 100 euros, without prejudice to the right of Kompas Camping to claim a higher amount.
9. Government
If, through general guidelines, the government defines norms which constitute a violation of these rules, then the latter will be automatically amended.
